In the work Beautiful Scar I have photographed people with physical scars. Scars as a constant and indelible reminder that life is fragile but at the same time a testimony that the person recovered and survived. 

In an attempt to raise the value of the scars as well as their bearers, leaf gold has been applied to the prints (with the Japanese artisan technique Kintsugi, "The Art of broken pieces", as a model).
